Here's why you should consider a "Book Review" party before releasing your book to the world.

I enjoyed writing my book but I didn't know if anyone else would be able to feel my emotions through the pages. So, instead of just releasing my book, I allowed others to read certain chapters to get a better idea of what the response would be.

“Do you honestly know your audience? Who are you writing to and who are you writing for?”

While every business ever known uses "Target Markets" for their marketing strategy, you too must have a "Target Market" or audience that you are attempting to reach.

How Does It Work

• Simply gather 10 to 12 random people/readers (not close friends nor family) and invite them to review your book.

• Choose a spacious location where everyone can meet you to review the book. You want to make sure that the readers have their own space to review the book and not share chapters with other readers during the review.

• Light refreshments are a plus because the readers are taking time out to help you.

• Give each reader a chapter to review with a review sheet asking them their opinion about the book. If you can't create one, you can simply Google a review sheet and use it as a guide

• Offer the readers exclusivity by adding their review to your website. This not only makes them feel VIP but it helps the readers that you're trying to attract.

• Thoroughly read the reviews to understand and pinpoint your reader audience. This also will help you with editing the content you already have.

During this process, you must leave your emotions behind because you need the hard critique(s). The readers' honesty is going to allow you to prepare for the published reviews to come. Be mindful to also take some responses with a grain of salt (meaning not literally). If there is a negative review, dissect the truth from it, make the necessary change(s) and move on.
